Expressing that the industry’s exports were at satisfactory levels in terms of both the territorial variety and also quantitative expansion, Mr. Taycı states that exports in 2022 would easily reach USD 13 billion. Explaining that “It is very pleasing that the Grain Deal has become effective again,” and Mr. Taycı continues “Russia’s decision to withdraw from the Grain Deal gave rise to an increase of nearly 7.5 percent in wheat prices and then the Russia’s decision to resume the process ands Ukraine’s commitments eased the tension. The initiatives of our President of the Republic and diplomats revived the Grain Deal as a very pleasing development. We are very happy to witness the constant shipments of grains and cereals.

It is extremely pleasing that the price hikes experienced following the discontinuation of the grain deal are curbed. We are of the opinion that the grain prices will maintain their normal levels save that there is a crisis. Türkiye is making serious efforts vis-à-vis both Russia and Ukraine to sustain the Grain Deal. This is a substantive initiative for humanity.” Saying that yields of al cereals, grains, and pulses both in Türkiye and in the world are very positive, Mr. Taycı explains that “We are not expecting to face any significant supply shortage during the forthcoming 1-year period. Dryness during the pandemic, changes to the supply chain, logistics, and many other factors that triggered price records occurred in that period. There is a gradual normalization and the Grain Deal offered a solution. We are not expecting any upward revision, but a downward move with smaller percentages. Most importantly, we believe that the current levels will be maintained.” Mr. Kazım Taycı, the Chairperson of Board of Directors of İHBİR, stressed that the industrialist exporters had ongoing financing problems and they had been expecting an urgent solution from authorities.
