SOYBEAN

Historically, this product was bred in the East Asian countries of China, Japan, and Korea and has been cultivated in this area for thousands of years and this crop’s large scale cultivation in the western world started by the beginning of the 20th century . 

Today, the agriculture of soybeans is carried out in many parts of the world led by the United States of America, Brazil,and Argentina. Soybeans is used in many areas. As it is one of the most productive plants per area of cultivation in terms protein content and is reach in nutritional value, it plays an important part in the East Asian cuisine and animal feed industry. The oil extracted from this plant’s seeds is used as edibleoil and it is one of the most consumed oil in this regard all over the world.
Soybeans is one of the major oilseeds that are grown globally for oil extraction. Soybeans contain oil by 18 to 20%. The soybean flour and meal that remain following the crushing process has a considerably high nutritional value. The soybean flour and meal are rich in protein. They contain protein by nearly 45 to 45%. Besides the oil and feed industries, it is also used in the food industry as soybean flour, soy milk, soybean cheese, soybean sprouts, soy sauce, soy ice-cream, and soybean meat.
With a total global production quantity of 330 to 340 million tons today, Brazil has the largest share in the output soybeans by 35%. The US, Argentina, and China follows Brazil.
Soybeans was cultivated in our country for the first in 1930’s and the plant was produced only in the Black Sea region for a long period. However, it has lately been produced as a second crop also in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions too. Today, soybeans is predominantly produced in Çukurova Region of our country.
